Planning meals around a grocery budget

A grocery budget holds up better when the week is decided before you walk into the store. Zorivio helps you set a weekly budget, plan leftovers and produce a list linked to each meal. Zorivio does not compare retailer prices yet and promises no savings.

Five habits that help a grocery budget

  1. Count the meals to cover. Write down the dinners, lunches and packed lunches actually eaten at home this week. You buy less at random when you know how many meals you need.
  2. Cook less often, in larger batches. A cooking session that covers two meals cuts last-minute purchases.
  3. Reuse the same ingredients. A bag of spinach or a pack of chicken can go into two different recipes in the same week.
  4. Start from what you have. Check the fridge and pantry before writing the list.
  5. Compare the unit price in store. Shelf labels often show the price per 100 g or per unit; check it with the retailer before you buy.
